RAY SHASHO WELCOMES LEGENDARY IMPRESSIONIST AND COMEDIAN RICH LITTLE TO THE SHOW

EXCLUSIVE:THE RAY SHASHO SHOW WELCOMES THE LEGENDARY
'R I C H  L I T T L E'

A master mimic of more than 200 voices, Rich Little continues to impress with a touring schedule throughout the United States and Canada.

U.S. Presidents: John F. Kennedy, Lyndon Johnson, Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford, Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, Bill Clinton, both George Bushes and Barack Obama…Rich Little has a voice for every administration.
Infamous for his skewering of political figures, Little has charmed, amused, intrigued and gotten the best of politicians from here to his native Canada. He entertained at both of Reagan’s presidential inaugurations and got to know the Reagans very well during that time. President Reagan used to tell Little, “You do me better than I do.”
A professed classic movie buff, he’s particularly fond of doing Jimmy Stewart, Jack Lemmon, John Wayne and Humphrey Bogart, but Little has also latched on to baby boomer-friendly characters, such as Paul Lynde, Kermit the Frog, Andy Rooney and Dr. Phil, to name a few.

Some of his favorite current impressions are of stars Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone, Jack Nicholson, and Clint Eastwood. “They’re easy to do,” he says. “They are larger than life.”

Little says, “An impression is what you think a person sounds like. It could be an exaggeration or a cartoon. It’s your impression. I think of an impersonation as more of an exact copy. Knowing the person personally is not important; it’s knowing the speech patterns and mannerisms [in order] to imitate the person the way the public sees him.”
The son of a doctor in Ottawa, Little started his “career” at the age of 12 when he answered back to his teachers in their own voices. Observing the teachers in action was infinitely more fun than paying attention to class work. To get dates, he’d find out a girl’s favorite actor, then call her up imitating that actor’s voice. Then when Little showed up, he’d say, “Sorry, Cary [Grant] can’t make it.” This stopped when a girl told him her favorite was Lassie.
Impressions came in handy to Little while working as a disc jockey and talk show host. During one April Fool’s Day marathon, he had “Jimmy Durante” emcee the morning show, “Julia Child” do a cooking show and “Elvis Presley” host a teenage show. Like the infamous 1939 broadcast of War of the Worlds, 500 autograph-hungry Elvis-believing fans besieged the station, thinking the King was really there. When they found out it was Little, the fans started throwing things at him.
Still in his early 20s, Little was discovered while working in the United States. His friend, singer Mel Torme, then on the musical team of CBS network’s The Judy Garland Show, asked him to make a tape. Instead of the usual impressions, Little did voices nobody did, including Alfred Hitchcock, Orson Welles and Dennis Weaver. Garland thought it was great, particularly his James Mason, and Little was signed to the show.

Appearances on TV variety shows starring Ed Sullivan, Jackie Gleason, Glen Campbell and Dean Martin followed, as well as on series such as Laugh-In, The John Davidson Summer Show and as a regular on The Julie Andrews Show. Little also had his own variety show in the 70s and was the star of the TV show KopyKats. Little was a guest host early on for The Tonight Show, hosting 12 times. He quickly became a household name sitting in one of the Hollywood Squares and went on to do The Muppet Show.

Named “Comedy Star of the Year” by the American Guild of Variety Artists, Little was the perpetrator of nine comedy albums and three HBO comedy specials, as well as the Emmy-award winning specials Rich Little’s Christmas Carol with “W.C. Fields” as Scrooge, “Humphrey Bogart” as one of the ghosts and “Paul Lynde” as Bob Cratchit.
One of his appearances on HBO was as Johnny Carson in the movie The Late Shift, which dealt with the race to succeed Carson on The Tonight Show. Little has appeared on the daytime soaps The Young and the Restless and Santa Barbara. He has made dramatic guest shots on Fantasy Island, Chips, and Murder She Wrote… to name just a few.

Rick’s greatest fear? A sore throat. “Other people get a cold and they just get a cold. I get a cold and John Wayne gets a cold, Orson Welles gets a cold, Nixon gets a cold and Truman Capote gets the sniffles. I get a cold and it’s all over.”

In June 1998, Little’s star was added to the Canadian Walk of Fame to go along with his current stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Palms Springs Walk of Fame and Las Vegas Walk of Fame; one of the few, if not the only celebrity to achieve all four.
In 2003, Little wrote a one-man play entitled, Jimmy Stewart and Friends in honor of this beloved actor and dear friend.  The story of Stewart’s amazing big screen career, his military record and his family life, including many celebrity impersonations, was met with rave reviews during a decade of touring at performing arts centers..  He’s hoping to have it made into a television special in the near future.

A little known fact about Little is his other talent as an artist.  He started sketching when he was young, drawing his family and friends.  To date, he has drawn around 100 pictures of all the celebrities and politicians he imitates, and portrays several of these life-like charcoal sketches in his shows.
In January 2010, Little became a United States citizen and was sworn in, with a suggestion from the judge to do it as John Wayne! Little is still currently working on his latest project, “Little by Little” a self-written, humorous show about his life, featuring over 30 characters.

TONY PALMER LEGENDARY BRITISH FILMMAKER & DIRECTOR IS THE SPECIAL GUEST ON THE RAY SHASHO SHOW

TONY PALMER AND HIS RE-EDITED VERSION OF THE BEATLES WORLD WAR II

Tony Palmer’s  film resume includes over 100 films, ranging from early works with The Beatles, Cream, Jimi Hendrix, Rory Gallagher (Irish Tour '74) and Frank Zappa (200 Motels), to his classical portraits which include profiles of Maria Callas, Margot Fonteyn, John Osborne, Igor Stravinsky, Richard Wagner,  Benjamin Britten and Ralph Vaughan Williams. He is also a stage director of theatre and opera.
Palmer’s latest project is a legendary musical tribute “The Beatles and WWII” issued on CD/DVD by Gonzo Multimedia UK .Take a group of some of the most famous solo artists of the 70’s – Elton John, Tina Turner, The Four Seasons, The Bee Gees, Peter Gabriel, Bryan Ferry, Rod Stewart, Leo Sayer, Keith Moon, Helen Reddy, Jeff Lynne & Frankie Valli – get them to sing cover versions of some of the most famous Beatles songs ever written. Add a considerable dollop of authentic documentary footage of the Second World War telling the story of that epic encounter…

“The Beatles and WWII”!!! Sound crazy? It is. But enormously entertaining, and occasionally very chilling. A unique blend of music and film like no other. Of that much we can be absolutely certain.
“The best collection of Beatles covers in a film EVER”

In an article written by Ronnie Dannelley editor of Ear Candy Magazine: “The old 1976 film was the strangest mix of cinema and rock ‘n’ roll, combining World War II images (newsreels and Hollywood films made at that time) with the music of The Beatles (not The Beatles original recordings, but by various artists). The old movie combined a pastiche of World War II-themed film segments (both period films and post-war action films) with the backdrop of the music of The Beatles (NOT the original songs, but cover versions by various artists). Strange concept huh? A long story, but the end result was disastrous. The original distributor junked the film so completely that no copies survived, and the film took on its iconic status.”
Says legendary director Tony Palmer of his new film, “Although the original 1976 film had disappeared, thanks to the indifference and stupidity of the original distributor, instinctively I felt the central idea, and the material, and of course the music, were just too good to be lost forever.

“So for those fans who have had to rely on a few very poor quality extracts on YouTube, the 2016 film is a completely new experience, much of it in HD. Yes, we have used some of the original tracks, but added a lot of new archive footage, some never seen before. In addition, I have often used totally different music. The film starts with Vaughan Williams, and ends with Shostakovich, taking in Rachmaninoff  en route and including many of the famous 2nd World War speeches by Roosevelt, Churchill, Montgomery, Chamberlain, Joe Kennedy and Hitler.  And the film makes reference to war-torn Syria and the massive problem of immigration along the way.

THE RAY SHASHO SHOW WELCOMES WALLY STOCKER GUITARIST FOR 'THE BABYS'

WALLY STOCKER
BRITISH GUITARIST FOR 'THE BABYS'
ON THE RAY SHASHO RADIO SHOW
Our Very Special Guest Today is Wally Stocker
the lead guitarist for the legendary British rock group 'THE BABYS'

Wally’s distinct style, reminiscent of Paul Kossoff (Free), gave The Babys a distinct, recognizable sound. That sound has found its way back home with the reforming of The Babys!
When The Babys disbanded in 1981 Wally toured with Rod Stewart and Air Supply, as well as Humble Pie – Featuring Jerry Shirley, Jimmy Barnes and Zoomer.
Wally recently made the cross-country move from Florida back to California! We welcome him back with open arms and huge smiles.
With Les Paul in hand – and trusty Marshall stack at his back, Wally is back where he belongs!
The Babys are a rock group best known for their songs “Isn’t It Time” and “Every Time I Think of You“. Both songs reached #13 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart in the late 1970s. The 1976–1978 Babys line-up consisted of keyboardist/guitarist Michael Corby, vocalist/bassist John Waite, drummer Tony Brock and guitarist Wally Stocker.
After Corby left the band in August 1978, a replacement was sought and the company brought in two musicians: Jonathan Cain as keyboardist and Ricky Phillips to take over as bassist. From 1979 until the breakup in 1981, The Babys line-up consisted of vocalist Waite, drummer Brock, bassist Phillips, guitarist Stocker, and keyboardist Cain.

After the breakup, John Waite went on to produce a major solo hit, “Missing You“, and continues to be a solo artist today. Jonathan Cain left to join Journey. John Waite, Jonathan Cain and Ricky Phillips formed Bad English in the late 1980s. Ricky Phillips currently plays for Styx. Wally Stocker and Tony Brock (together and separately) worked with Rod Stewart and other mainstream artists including Elton John, Air Supply, Keith Urban and Humble Pie.

In late 2012, auditions were held to find suitable replacements for the departed members. Joining original Babys Tony Brock and Wally Stocker, are John Bisaha (Lead Vocals/Bass) and Joey Sykes (Guitars). The new lineup have played numerous shows over the past year to great crowds and reviews – while pushing forward with new music to be brought to The Babys FANS – who have been sorely neglected low these many years!
The new album – I’ll Have Some of That – was released worldwide on June 24, 2014.

Joining The Babys onstage are “The Babettes’ – Holly Bisaha and Elisa Chad-bourne, along with keyboardists Francesco Saglietti and Brian Johnson.

The Band is about to release a new video for “Not Ready to Say Goodbye” very soon. The Babys bring a full sound and look that has not been seen on the ‘scene’ in MANY years!

RAY SHASHO WELCOMES 'DR.HOOK' LEGEND DENNIS LOCORRIERE TO THE SHOW

DENNIS LOCORRIERE
THE VOICE OF DR.HOOK
ON THE RAY SHASHO RADIO SHOW

Our very special guest today is Dennis Locorriere the legendary lead singer, guitarist and songwriter for Dr Hook
Dr Hook was an internationally recognizable household name throughout the 70’s and 80’s and in many territories throughout the world; it retains that standing to this day.
Dr. Hook & the Medicine Show did its farewell tour with Dennis on vocals in the late 80’s but it was just the beginning of what he has since accomplished in his long and colourful career. Locorriere penned songs have been recorded and performed by artists such as Helen Reddy, Lou Rawls, BJ Thomas, Olivia Newton-John, Southside Johnny, Willie Nelson and Bob Dylan. As a solo artist, Locorriere has played at countless prestigious venues (Festival Hall Melbourne, Royal Concert Hall Glasgow, Liverpool Philharmonic) and festivals including the UK’s Glastonbury and has released 3 critically acclaimed albums.
Not for 30 years have the massive hits of Dr Hook been sung and played live by a band worthy of that title … until now.

Following the success of the Universal release Dr Hook Timeless (Executive Producer, Dennis Locorriere in the UK, New Zealand and Australia,  Dennis Locorriere, who, from the very beginnings of Dr Hook to the height of their success, was the unmistakable voice of the band’s biggest hits and best loved songs, such as Sylvia's Mother, Cover Of Rolling Stone, Only 16, A Little Bit More, If Not You, Sharing The Night Together, Better Love Next Time, Sexy Eyes, When You're In Love With A Beautiful Woman, Years From Now and many more, is touring the world with an incredibly talented band of musicians and singers, playing all of the hits.
This is something that Locorriere has not done since his Dr Hook Farewell Tour in 1985.
In fact, never before have these songs been recreated live to sound just as they did when they were originally recorded in the famous Nashville and Muscle Shoals studios with some of the best session musicians in the world.
Possessing one of the most recognizable voices in popular music, Dennis Locorriere and the band have already performed sell out shows in New Zealand, Australia, and the UK and will be bringing this unique experience to the rest of the world.
Dennis says “I know that people love the Dr Hook sound on those original recordings and that's what we're bringing back to them, just the way they remember it and want to hear it performed live”.
Dr Hook™ Starring Dennis Locorriere - The Timeless World Tour, is the show Dr Hook fans have been waiting for.

THE RAY SHASHO SHOW WELCOMES WALLY PALMAR-GUITARIST-SINGER-SONGWRITER FOR 'THE ROMANTICS'

WALLY PALMAR OF
'THE ROMANTICS'
ON THE RAY SHASHO RADIO SHOW

Our Very Special Guest Today is multi-instrumentalist, singer and composer
Wally Palmar of The Romantics.

1980's music legends The Romantics, Wally Palmar, Mike Skill, Rich Cole and Brad Elvis, best known for their mega hit single “What I Like About You,” are touring the US in support of their forthcoming album to be released on K-Tel Records titled “Up From The Rubble”!

While it's true that the Romantics took much of their simple thunder from the British Invasion, their primary influence was the Frenzied excitement of the late 60's Detroit rock scene. They cut their teeth on that High Energy sound characterized by the MC5, the Psychedelic Stooges, Bob Seger and the Last Heard, Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels, Scott Morgan's Rationals, SRC, and Garage icons the Underdogs, infusing it with sincerity, irony, spontaneity, and of course, Volume. The Romantics took the essence of this scene and translated it to suit their own modern experience. They favored short brash songs, “punk short” hair and popularized red leather suits.

After releasing their own independent single in 1977, consisting of the first two songs they had written - “Little White Lies” and “I Can't Tell You Anything” - The Romantics traveled east to establish an audience. Soon after Bomp Records' Greg Shaw sees them in Toronto and funds a single, which included “Tell It To Carrie,” “First In Line,” something of a stylistic matrix for The Romantics' music to come. The Romantics considered themselves well removed from the Sex Pistols' negativity. They didn't want Rock & Roll to go away rather they want, as Skill tells a reporter in 1979: “to still have fun with three chords.” The late 70's U.K. punk movement was then diluted and still misunderstood in America.
Through constant touring over three years and meetings with CBS Brass, Natt Weiss, & Nemperor A&R reps, they signed with Nemperor Records in 1979.

The original Romantics, Palmar, Skill, Cole and Marinos released their debut LP. Anchored by “What I Like About You,” “When I Look In Your Eyes” and a cover of The Kinks, Ray Davies' “She's Got Everything.” The album is an exemplary pop-rock period piece. The Romantics evoke a youthful portrait, haunting in its innocence, a direct contrast to the tough world they know in Detroit. Now nearly 30 plus years later they are still known for having created some of the most influential and beloved rock and roll of all time.

The 2nd record, “National Breakout” in late 1980, featuring standouts “Night Like This” and “Forever Yours” produced tours of Europe and Australia. The 3rd record “Strictly Personal” was released in1981. In 1983-84 they raised the bar with “In Heat” the platinum album bearing 2 top 10 singles, “Talking In Your Sleep” and “One In A Million” followed with a tour of Japan.

In late 1990, the Romantics added current Blondie drummer Clem Burke to the lineup, and in 1994 they released a 5 song EP titled “Made In Detroit” for Westbound Records, containing fellow Detroiter George Clintons' Funkadelic songs, “You & Your Folks” And “I Wanna Know,” along with three originals. Later that year, The Romantics received an award for Outstanding Pop/Rock Recording Artists from the Motor City Music Awards in 1992.

1995 saw The Romantics settle their 7 year old lawsuit against their former management

2011 brought the re-emergence of original bass player, vocalist, Rich Cole and Mike Skill back on guitar. The band is now able to expand their set list and include more songs from their first two albums, and include new and unreleased material. This now allows them to focus on more harmonies and get back to their original rock sound that established The Romantics from the very beginning.

Once again much to the excitement of their fans worldwide, The Romantics Palmar, Skill, Elvis, and Cole are touring the US and Europe in support of their recently released singles from their highly anticipated new album release “Up From The Rubble” for summer 2016!

It’s my great pleasure to welcome Wally Palmar of The Romantics to The Ray Shasho Show. Wally thank you for being on the show today!
