Alan Paul, has just released his latest book, Brothers and Sisters: The Allman Brothers Band and the Album That Defined the 70s. Exploring the powerful impact that the Allman Brothers had on the politics and culture of the 1970s, including playing a pivotal role in the election of Jimmy Carter, the book has been featured everywhere from "All Things Considered" and Wall Street Journal to the Washington Post and LA TimesRegarded as “rock’s finest narrative historian."
Alan is a unique example of an individual who is both performing the music of the Allman Brothers and the foremost historian of the band. He released a book that explores the surprising ways the band's influence continues to be felt today, from playing a pivotal role in Carter's election to paving the way for today's celebrity media culture -- while simultaneously traveling the country with his Friends of the Brothers, opening the Allman Brothers' official Peach Tree Music Festival this summer and headlining the Watkins Glen 50th anniversary concert in Canandaigua, NY.
Author Alan Paul of the New York Times bestseller One Way Out: The Inside History of the Allman Brothers Band, the definitive book on the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame band, and Texas Flood: The Inside Story of Stevie Ray Vaughan.
The latter has been optioned and is being developed for both documentary and feature films. His first book, Big in China, is about his experiences raising an American family, forming a band and becoming an unlikely rock star in Beijing. He also founded Friends of the Brothers, the premier celebration of the music of the Allman Brothers Band, featuring members of the Dickey Betts, Jaimoe and Gregg Allman bands. He is a regular guest on radio shows and a frequent contributor to The Wall Street Journal, Guitar World, and other publications.

BOOK REVIEW

-By Literary Titan (5) STARS

The Rock Star Chronicles by Ray Shasho, is a splendid book written by a music enthusiast who has poured their heart and soul into it. It’s a story of a boy who loved rock music, and his obsessive passion of it earned himself the name Rock Raymond. He went to school but instead was schooled in all matters of music while his peers were buried chin-deep in coursework. He then became a radio DJ and has now compiled a book on all interviews he held with Rock gods who raided the airwaves back in the 70s and 80s. It’s a compilation of interviews with outstanding vocalists, legendary guitarists and crazy drummers in the rock music scene. Each interview gives a reader an in-depth view into their personal lives and the philosophies that guide their lives which all serve to humanize these great icons. For readers who are old enough to call themselves baby boomers this book will bring old memories back to life. Millennials, on the other hand, may think of this book as a literal work of the Carpool Karaoke show.

The Rock Star Chronicles is a book I didn’t know I was waiting for. To come across a book that will talk me into trying something new. One brave enough to incite me to venture into new frontiers. This book made me a believer- I am now a bona fide Rock and Roll music fan.

Ray Shasho masterfully gets the interviewees talking. He smartly coaxes answers from them with crafty questions designed to get a story rolling out of them. The artists talk about diverse issues ranging from music, politics, and their social engagements. Having been on the music seen all his life, Ray Shasho knows the buttons to press, how to get them comfortable about talking about their lives.

The book’s cover is befitting of its subject matter with the leather look offering a royal background to the golden letter print. It speaks to how high a level rock music holds in the pecking order- arguably, modern music as we know it has originated from blues and rock music.  The second noteworthy thing is the use of high-definition pictures to reference the musician being interviewed in every sub-chapter. This ensures that the book is for both original rock and roll lovers and aspiring new ones. Together is makes for a refreshing and consistently enjoyable read.

I recommend this book to rock music enthusiasts, aspiring musicians wondering what it takes and all readers curious to learn new things by going back in time.

The

Bunny Years

The Surprising Inside Story of the Playboy Clubs

The Women Who Worked as Bunnies, and Where They Are Now

Kathryn Leigh Scott (Author)

The 1960s were a time of change in America, an era when safely guarded innocence gave way to explosive social revolution. For Kathryn Leigh Scott, or Bunny Kay as she was known in the New York City Playboy Club, and the more than 250 former Bunnies she interviewed for this book, donning satin ears and a fuzzy cottontail was an act of liberation—a chance to bridge the gap between being girls and becoming women, to earn more money than their own mothers ever fathomed, and to find their way in a world that would never be the same. Lauren Hutton was a Bunny. Deborah Harry was too. Bunnies went on to become doctors, lawyers, stockbrokers, real estate tycoons, nurses, scientists, entrepreneurs, and teachers.

DARK
 SHADOWS
Memories

35th Anniversary Edition

by Kathryn Leigh Scott(Author), Alexandra Moltke Isles (Foreword) Format: Kindle Edition and Audio CD

DARK SHADOWS MEMORIES is a colorful, picture-packed tribute to the legendary 1966 - 1971 Gothic ABC-TV daytime series Dark Shadows, that starred Jonathan Frid as tormented vampire Barnabas Collins. Launched June 27, 1966 by series creator Dan Curtis as a Gothic romance evoking the gloomy, storm-tossed milieu of the Brontë sisters, and later evolving into a supernatural blend of vampires, witches, leviathans, time travel and parallel universes, Dark Shadows was radically unlike any daytime soap.

My Journey

 Through Life and Loss

by Kathryn Leigh Scott (Author)

In the final months of her husband’s terminal illness, Kathryn Leigh Scott was determined to make the most of every precious minute they had left. Despite Geoff’s debilitating condition and the difficulties of caregiving, the couple decided to travel the world. Anticipating new horizons and experiences was not only an embraceable antidote—it was the very heart of Kathryn’s mantra: “If not now, when?”

How I Regained My Strength, Patience, and Well-Being While Caregiving

by Kathryn Leigh Scott (Author)

When Kathryn Leigh Scott’s husband, Geoff, was diagnosed with a terminal illness, she had to become his caregiver. As powerless as she was to stop the effects of the disease, she needed to be there for him. She wanted to be. And as much as she hated to admit it, the situation was taking its toll.

The

Happy

Hours

How We Brought Joy

to My Husband's Final Days

by Kathryn Leigh Scott (Author)

With the health of her husband, Geoff, rapidly deteriorating, Kathryn Leigh Scott couldn’t help but notice how small and isolated their world had become. Between caregiver and patient, medical equipment and medicines, they began to lose contact with friends, the outside world, and even each other. The road to goodbye had become a lonely one. So Kathryn created “Happy Hour.”
