drummer Corky Laing is essentially associated with rock and roll folklore and
as one of the elite drummers in the world. Laing is a longtime member for hard
rock/heavy metal giant’s Mountain and the blues-rock power trio of West, Bruce
& Laing. But Laing’s musical collaborations are seemingly endless. A list
that includes alliances with John Lennon, Jack Bruce, Meat Loaf, Noel Redding,
Mahogany Rush, Ten Years After, Ian Hunter, Mick Ronson, Bo Diddley and Gov’t
Mule …to name a few. Laing is also a
producer and composer.

during 2014 and 2015 reminded Corky how much he liked
playing Mountain songs the way they were originally written.
Now he is looking at touring both Europe and the US celebrating
the Mountain legacy. On the European tours Corky is
joined by Joe Venti (formerly e.g. Leslie West Band)
on bass and vocals, and Phil Baker (e.g. Uriah Heep
Legends & Pulse Echoes of Floyd) on guitar and vocals.
In November 2015 they tour the UK and in February 2016 Germany, playing the
immortal Mountain classics and throwing in some West,
Bruce & Laing and Cream for good measure.

Our Very

legendary Hit-maker Tommy James of The Shondells who has also written a
bestselling book about his infamous and often intimidating association with
Roulette Records and the “Godfather” of the music business Morris Levy.
After Tommy James and his family moved to Niles,
Michigan he assembled what became a very popular local act called The
Tornadoes. A local deejay asked the band to sign with his new label called Snap
Records. One of the tunes recorded was a catchy rock and roll ditty written by
Jeff Barry and Ellie Greenwich called “Hanky Panky.”
The song quickly became a local hit and then rapidly
faded away into oblivion.
Two years later an improbable occurrence unfolded
when “Hanky Panky” was discovered in a record bin by a nightclub deejay in
Pittsburgh. He began playing the newly discovered 45 at weekend dances and the
response was beyond overwhelming. A
local record distributer bootlegged it and sold 80,000 copies in just ten days.
By May of 1966 “Hanky Panky” became a number one hit in Pittsburgh. Later a
promoter hunted down Tommy in Niles, Michigan and urged him to come to
Pittsburgh where he was already a huge sensation.
A young and impressionable Tommy James would soon be
trying to sell “Hanky Panky” to the largest record companies in New York. With
an original copy from Snap Records and a bootleg copy in hand the executives
from all the major labels positioned themselves to sign the rock and roll Boy
Wonder. Strangely the next morning Tommy received a phone call informing him
that all those record companies that were so eager to sign him had decided to
pass. A disconcerted James then received a call from Jerry Wexler of Atlantic
records who informed Tommy that he received a call from Morris Levy president
of Roulette Records. The message was made crystal clear to Wexler and all the
other record execs.
Levy said, “This is my F’ing record! Leave it
alone.”
(Hanky Panky became number one on the charts in
America and the biggest summer hit of 1966)
Thus began the infamous relationship between Tommy
James, Roulette Records and music mogul/ gangster Morris Levy. After every
crime family member connected to Roulette Records had passed away, Tommy James
was compelled to profess his incredible story. So with help from author Martin
Fitzpatrick, James confessed his story into a book called Me, the Mob, and the Music which became a Simon and Schuster Best
Seller.
Tommy James has sold over 100 million records and
was awarded 23 gold singles plus nine gold and platinum albums. Some of his
legendary hits include “Hanky Panky,”“I
Think We’re Alone Now,” “Mony Mony,” “Crimson and Clover,” “Crystal Blue
Persuasion,” “Sweet Cherry Wine” and “Draggin’ The Line.”
During 1968-69 Tommy James and The Shondells sold
more single records (45’s) than any artist in the world, including The Beatles.

STEVE HACKETT is widely renowned
for his intricate progressive and classical rock guitar stylings and
composition with Genesis. But over the years, Steve Hackett has affectionately
embraced numerous musical genres while brilliantly composing, arranging, and
recording track after track of pristine musical enchantment.
In 1971, Steve Hackett made his
studio debut with Genesis on the album Nursery Cryme. The classic lineup became
Peter Gabriel (Lead singer), Steve Hackett (Guitarist), Tony Banks
(Keyboardist), Mike Rutherford (Bass guitar), and Phil Collins (Drums). Genesis
became touted for their intricate musical arrangements and instrumentation
along with frontman Peter Gabriel’s raconteur theatrical stage antics. During
this time Hackett became an early pioneer for an electric guitar technique
called “tapping” which is more commonly used on instruments like the Chapman
Stick.
In 1985, Steve Hackett and Steve
Howe (Yes, Asia) united to form GTR. The band released their self-titled debut
album in 1986 produced by Geoff Downes. The release spawned the hit “When the
Heart Rules the Mind” reaching #14 on Billboards’ Hot 100 Singles Chart. GTR
disbanded in 1987.
On March 15th of 2010 Steve
Hackett was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of
Genesis.
In 2012, Steve Hackett joined
forces with YES legend Chris Squire and formed Squackett. Their debut release
entitled … A Life Within a Day received rave reviews.
Earlier this year Hackett
released his latest solo album entitled Wolflight. The album debuted at number
31 on the UK album charts. Since 1975, Steve Hackett has expeditiously released
more than (25) inspired solo studio albums.
Most recently Esoteric Recordings
announced the official release of a 2 disc deluxe edition of GTR, the
self-titled 1986 album by Steve Hackett and Steve Howe’s band GTR. This edition
has been newly re-mastered and is presented here with the addition of a bonus
14-track CD of GTR live in Los Angeles in July 1986. There are also three bonus
tracks taken from promotional 12-inch singles of ‘When the Heart Rules the
Mind’ & ‘The Hunter,’ two of which appear on the CD for the first time.

Sofia, Bulgaria – A year
after releasing the all-star project “My Kind O’ Lovin’” producer and composer
Milen Vrabevski returns to fulfill, as earlier claimed, his promise and
ambition with Intelligent Music Project III – “Touching the Divine”. The new
album features session legends Simon Phillips and Tim Pierce, and Nathan East
courtesy of YEG. Тhe production concept relies again on two project launchers –
guest stars John Payne (ex-Asia) and Toto’s Joseph Williams. Says Joseph, “It’s
wonderful to explore working with Milen. The project has a wonderful message,
accompanied with some beautiful music and some great rock ‘n’ roll – the
musicians in this project are top-noch.”
Musically “Touching the Divine”
delivers a thrilling example of straightforward songwriting combined with rich
and layered sound and gently executed dynamic spins. The first single MIND
PROJECTION is a melodic and energetic slice of AOR, scored with John Payne’s
powerful vocal arrangement and virtuoso instrumental charge, that lets you in
deeper to the magic ingredient of this sophisticated project. Bass great Nathan
East and fabulous Simon Phillips stamp their own authority in this piece, as
well on the record throughout.
Full creative input by all guest
stars in the project. Recording sessions took place at Simon Phillips’ Phantom
recordings (Williams, Pierce, Phillips and East) and at Intelligent Music
Studios in Sofia (Payne, Pierce and vocals from Carl Sentance, recently
appointed as Nazareth’s lead singer). Says Simon, “Music is an universal
language. It’s really a blessing to have the opportunity to work with musicians
from around the world.”
MIND PROJECTION brings together
once again the positive idea of the producer and composer Milen Vrabevski, that
following the true excitement of our hearts and souls will give us the key to
living a conscious live and to spiritual satisfaction, we often call happiness.
Says Nathan, “This project is very special to me, because of the nature of the
message of the project. I was very inspired and happy with the idea, because
the message has value and meaning and I am about that. The word ‘inspirational’
is what I use to describe this project.”
John Payne, who continues his 14
year legacy as “ASIA Featuring John Payne” says, “Doing this project with Milen
– it has been great, really – these songs have a lot of structure and melody.
It’s a very mature project, it’s a very intelligent project for the mind.”
Says Milen Vrabevski, “I believe
we managed to deliver an astonishing sound once again and it will delight the
ears and sound systems of hardcore rockers all around the world. Bearing in
mind the top-noch level of our guest stars, I allowed myself mainly to record
the acoustic guitar of the first single MIND PROJECTION. The video was shot in
Bulgaria by Vasil Stefanov, a very prolific and talented video director. The
explicit idea was to show the level of collaboration and collective effort of
all featuring musicians, which I believe, would be one of the most intriguing
aspects for the music fans.”

rock player’. Musically, this project is fun, because it travels a lot of
different places.”

Billy Sherwood created this
concept album based on a lost soul that is reincarnated into various
periods of history. "I was inspired by the notion that General Patton
believed he was reincarnated on various battlefields through time; I wanted to

the citizen character into significant moments of history.
