is an American southern rock and country singer/songwriter who was an original recording member of Southern rock band the Outlaws, then left to form the Henry Paul Band, who is now back with the Outlaws and also was the lead singer for the country band BlackHawk.
For The Outlaws, it´s always about the music especially live music! For more than 40 years, the southern rock legend has celebrated triumphs, endured tragedies and survived legal nightmares to remain one of the most influential and best-loved bands of the genre.
It’s a band of brothers bound together by history, harmony and the road. It’s about a group that respects its own legacy while refusing to be defined by its past. But most of all, it’s about playing live, playing for their audience. The sextet proves just how well this combination works with Legacy Live, their brand-new double live CD, released on November 18th. “I want people to hear this album and see our show and realize that The Outlaws are still there,” says founding member and front man Henry Paul. “Our goal is to unite the fans and bring the group back into the limelight.”
Legacy Live consists of two CDs, full to the brim with classics such a ´There Goes Another Love Song`, ´Ghost Riders`, ´Green Grass & High Tides Forever` and ´Freeborn Man` as well as more recent material like ´It´s About Pride`, ´Hidin` Out In Tennessee` and ´So Long`. URIAH HEEP WIZARD KEN HENSLEY ON THE RAY SHASHO SHOW

K E N    H E N S L E Y
LEGENDARY KEYBOARDIST/GUITARIST/
SONGWRITER
FOR URIAH HEEP
ON THE RAY SHASHO SHOW
From childhood poet to legendary status is a long, long road and it´s hard to cut this particular story short .... so why try?
Born in London with music in his family and in his blood, Ken Hensley formed the dream of being a rock star at the age of 11 when he bribed his parents into buying him a guitar.
Armed with not much more than sheer determination he moved from step to step always looking for a way to advance his powerful ambitions.
This was achieved through bands like The Gods which went through several incarnations before recording 2 albums for EMI Records and until the formation of Uriah Heep in 1970, the group in which all of his dreams came true and which changed his life forever and in many ways.
Ken wrote or co-wrote the majority of Uriah Heep's songs during this period, including the hit singles "Lady in Black" (on which he sang lead vocals), "Easy Livin'" and "Stealin'", as well as "Look at Yourself", on which he also sang lead vocals, and "Free Me".
The band's classic line-up featured Hensley, Byron, Box, Kerslake and bassist Gary Thain, plus the management provided by Gerry Bron (Bronze Records). During his time with Heep (1970–1980), they recorded 13 studio albums, and the acclaimed live album "Uriah Heep Live – January 1973" along with many compilations and singles. Hensley also recorded his first two solo albums, "Proud Words on a Dusty Shelf" (1973) and "Eager To Please" (1975) during this time.
Ken will tell you that he is a first and foremost a writer/composer/lyricist and his enormous history of world-wide hit records is testimony to this, as is his history of world-wide sales of over 40 million records.
After returning to Europe from the US, Ken Hensley began the climb back into rock & roll history and in 2007 released the acclaimed rock opera Blood On The Highway.
Steadily Ken grew back into the consciousness of his huge fan base and, either solo or with Live Fire, the live performances thrilled audiences from Norway to Russia and all points in between.

With his classic autobiography, "When Too Many Dreams Come True" printed in English, Russian and Bulgarian, the man who first made his mark in the 20th century is now clearly capturing the 21st.
Recent solo releases included another stunning solo CD, "Love & Other Mysteries" In 2013, Cherry Red Records released a brilliant new Live Fire CD called "TROUBLE" which embodied all the lyrical and musical power of Ken´s best efforts with Heep, transformed into a 21st century classic album.
Live Fire merged some of these great tracks into their live shows as they stormed every market they visited.
2013 also saw a dramatic increase in the demand
for Ken´s solo shows and this momentum rolled right into 2014, with Live Fire making its first appearance in Russia, with two sold-out shows in Moscow and Kaluga.
With tours in Ukraine, Crimea, Latvia and Russia, Ken continued to grow the audience for his solo shows and The Legends continued with two memorable concerts on a November "Rock Cruise".

Teamed with Steve Weltman, his partner, manager and friend, they are planning (some would say "plotting") a lot of interesting projects, so stay tuned. It has been said before and it´s worth saying again ..... Ken Hensley is a rock & roll legend with no plans to stop.

BOBBY KIMBALL THE VOICE OF 'T O T O' ON THE RAY SHASHO SHOW

B O B B Y  K I M B A L L
'HOLD THE LINE'
A VERY SPECIAL INTERVIEW
ON THE RAY SHASHO SHOW
After playing and singing with about 15 different bands in Louisiana and Texas, Bobby Kimball ended up in a band called "The Levee Band", which became a high watermark of musicianship and talent. In the middle of a tour with The Levee band, Bobby received a call from a long time musician friend, Jon Smith, who asked him to come to LA and sing with the musicians who had made up the band "Three Dog Night", one of Bobby’s favorite bands ever. He had to make a very hard decision to leave, not only one of the best bands he had ever played with, but also his native Louisiana home.

After arriving in LA to meet the band, things changed drastically for Bobby. He was finally in the city where the music industry thrived, and most of the great musicians and singers who had created the hit songs that drew him into the fold to become a musician were living and working. After this band got together, they signed a contract with CBS Records under the name "S.S. Fools", which was the title of the first and only LP recorded by them. This band lasted for about 18 months before Bobby decided to leave them for better opportunities. During the rehearsal stages of "S.S. Fools", Bobby first met, and became friends with Jeffery Porcaro (then, the drummer with "Steely Dan"), and David Paich paych (who had just co-written the Grammy winning "Silk Degrees" LP with Boz Scaggs). Jeff and David were at most of our rehearsals, because they loved the music of "Three Dog Night" as well. A few months after leaving S.S. Fools, Bobby was asked by Jeff and David (the initial founders of Toto), to become the lead singer. There were no questions, nor hesitation about his decision to join this band. They were the best musicians Bobby had ever heard, and a perfect platform for his voice.

The very first LP Toto released, entitled "Toto", broke out with the massive hit single, "Hold The Line". The band was nominated for a Grammy as "Best New Band" that year, but lost to "A Taste of Honey".
Toto’s music was very well received and the band built a huge following of very loyal fans. Bobby was in the band for the recording of the first 4 records ("Toto", "Hydra", "Turn Back", and "TotoIV"). It was the "Toto IV CD" that absolutely defined the band, and its future. At the 1982 Grammy Awards, The "Toto IV" CD was nominated for a "record breaking" NINE Grammy Awards. Out of these nine nominations, the band won SIX Grammy Awards, based on the strength and popularity of the song, "Rosanna". Also, Steve Lukather, co-writer of "Turn Your Love Around", with Jay Gradon -Greydon and Bill Champlin, won a 7th Grammy. Altogether, the band brought home 7 Grammy Awards that evening, ...which set a precedent for the number of Grammy Awards ever won by a single band in one year.

It was in the middle of the recording of the 5th CD that some differences broke out amongst the members of the band, and Bobby was asked to leave Toto. The band went through several singers, Fergie Frederikson & Joseph Williams, to name a couple of really great vocalists.
Bobby moved to Germany for 6 years, and recorded his first CD there with Frank Farian called “The Far Corporation”. This is where he met Simon Philips, who played drums on the CD. The CD did very well in the charts in Europe, and a 2nd CD was in the works by then.

Bobby ended up recording 3 more CDs in Germany:
1. “Rise Up”
2. “Tribute to Ray Charles”
3. “The Toto Classic Hits”

After several vocalist changes with Toto, in 1998, Bobby was asked to rejoin the band, which put the band back to it's most original form, and he remained the lead vocalist for the next 10 years until the band dissolved in 2008.

Not long after his departure from Germany, Bobby met, and began co-writing his next CD work with his friend John Zaika. The CD was entitled “All I Ever Needed”. Now, John and Bobby are starting on their 2nd project, but this time, they have started their own Record label called: “Future Memories Music”

Bobby and John’s next CD work will be the first thing to be released on that new label, and then, other artists will be considered to join the label. John and Bobby are writing the new CD now (May 2011).
Bobby spent about 2 weeks, beginning may 8th, 2011, touring in Kuwait & Iraq for the US Troops. “It was one of the most interesting tours I’ve ever done. I learned so much about what was going on in the Middle East, that most people have no clue about.”

Since the dissolution of Toto in 2008, Bobby has been touring the world over, non-stop. At this time, he has 6 major tours lined up, and more on the way. “I’ve never been this busy in my whole career in music. I love touring, and I always have fun on the road with the fans.”

CARL PALMER THE SOLE SURVIVOR OF 'EMERSON LAKE AND PALMER'

C A R L  P A L M E R
LEGENDARY DRUMMER INTERVIEWED ON
THE RAY SHASHO RADIO SHOW

This interview was conducted prior to the passing of
Greg Lake RIP (1947-2016)

Carl Palmer is a drummer’s drummer. A consummate professional, a brilliant technician and a dynamic showman, he has thrilled listeners and audiences alike for nearly four decades with some of music’s most memorable bands includingAtomic Rooster, The Crazy World Of Arthur Brown, Asia and Emerson, Lake & Palmer. Along the way his dexterity, speed and mastery of the drums, combined with his infectious stage personality, have secured for him a respected place in history as one of Rock and Roll’s greatest drummers.

At the age of 18, Carl joined up with The Crazy World of Arthur Brown at the absolute peak of their success following the smash single “Fire” (“I am the God of Hellfire…”). In 1969, Carl returned to the UK to form Atomic Rooster. It was with Atomic Rooster that Carl enjoyed his first real success as a founding member of a band.
But it would be in the spring of 1970, Carl received a phone call that changed his life forever. Keyboard virtuoso Keith Emerson from The Nice, was forming a new band with King Crimson founder Greg Lake. Immediately dubbed a “super-group” by the media, Emerson, Lake and Palmer (ELP) entered the musical arena with great expectations.

The classic single "Lucky Man" became a hit, and their stage show quickly became the stuff of legend. They recorded and released five albums in four years, all of which reached platinum status. Among them: Tarkus, Trilogy, and Brain Salad Surgery.

An insane touring schedule followed and the legendary scale and musicianship of ELP’s live show continued to grow. Tired from a grueling four year run which had seen the release of 5 albums as well as untold hundreds of tour dates, the band decided to take a hiatus. The material created during this period was the basis of the ELP albums Works Volume I and Works Volume II, which were
released back to back in 1977. The band continued to tour and record for two more years, before disbanding in 1979.

Opportunity knocked again for Carl when he was approached to form a supergroup concept for Geffen Records. Eventually, along with King Crimson vocalist/bassist John Wetton, Yes/ Buggles keyboardist Geoff Downes and Yes guitarist, Steve Howe, Asia was born.
The band’s self-titled debut album Asia was released in 1982 and a tour began. Asia’s debut LP went to number one, selling over seven million copies worldwide. Along the way singles such as “Heat Of The Moment”, “Only Time Will Tell”, “Wildest Dreams” and “Sole Survivor” dominated the charts for months.
In 1985, Asia went their separate ways.
Carl would spend the next seven years playing in different combinations of bands with Keith Emerson and some of the ASIA members. Finally, in 1992, ELP returned with Black Moon. They would remain together until 1998, and reform for one final appearance in London at the High Voltage Festival in 2010.

To date, Carl has sold nearly 50 million records.

In 2012, Carl was approached by the innovative art company, Scene 4, to do a series of art images based on his rhythmic and musical ideas. The images are a unique blend of light, shadow, reflection and musical performance, related to his legacy.
Carl is an avid collector of contemporary art and antiques from all over the world.
His knowledge of contemporary art fuelled his interest in pursuing his own art projects with Scene 4. To date, he has released two collections: Twist Of The Wrist and The Rhythm of Light.

Carl Palmer, is returning to the United States for the second leg of the enormously successful 2016 REMEMBERING KEITH AND THE MUSIC OF EMERSON LAKE & PALMER TOUR. Originally designed to be a celebration of Palmer’s 50th year in music, the focus and name of the tour was changed in light of the tragic death of Keith Emerson. Carl Palmer’s ELP Legacy will play nearly two hours and drum enthusiasts can expect an evening of compelling percussive skills, from the man who brought the drum set to the forefront of rock n roll music.

JOHN HALL 'ORLEANS' LEGENDARY SINGER-SONGWRITER AND GUITARIST IS 'STILL THE ONE'

THE RAY SHASHO SHOW WELCOMES JOHN HALL OF 'ORLEANS'
John Hall’s path is optimistic. As a professional performer/singer-songwriter/guitarist, he found himself wanting and needing to make changes to better the world around him. By advocacy through music, he segued into politics first on a local level, and then nationally as a member of the United States Congress. After making a difference for the environment, healthcare, and even more so for veterans, he returned to the music world.
John’s memoir STILL THE ONE:  A ROCK’N’ROLL JOURNEY TO CONGRESS AND BACK shares a variety of stories from his life in the musical and political worlds.

Best known as a member of Orleans, a hit-making pop-rock group with multiple lead singers and hits “Still The One,” “Dance With Me,”(both co-written by John and still in heavy use on the radio, streamers, Broadway shows, and TV shows like Maya and Marty and Hallmark's Movie of the week). “Still” and “Dance” have been certified by BMI at over 12 million airplays in the US alone. Other Orleans hits include “Love Takes Time,” "Let There Be Music," and "Reach."

John Hall has written songs for music legends ranging from Janis Joplin (“Half Moon”) and Bonnie Raitt (Good Enough) and to Chet Atkins (Sails). Other folks that have covered John’s songs include: Bobby McFerrin (Dance with Me),the Doobie Brothers with James Taylor and Michael McDonald (Power), Bela Fleck with New Grass Revival (Reach), and Ricky Skaggs and James Taylor (New Star Shining). He wrote “Ms. Grace,” Number One in England by The Tymes in 1975, and listed in Rolling Stone's top five of all- time beach music hits.
John played guitar on record and/or on tour with Seals and Crofts, Taj Mahal, Carly Simon, Little Feat, and Christopher Cross.

His environmental concerns led him into community activism, as one of the movers of the antinuclear movement. John cofounded the activist group MUSE (Musicians United for Safe Energy) with Bonnie Raitt, Jackson Browne, and Graham Nash in 1979. His song “Power” became the rallying song and a highlight at the five NO-NUKES concerts presented by MUSE in 1979. Among the artists that participated: Bruce Springsteen, Bonnie Raitt, The Doobie Brothers, James Taylor, Gil Scott-Heron, Crosby Still and Nash, Chaka Khan, Carly Simon, Tom Petty, Jackson Browne…
Starting in 1990 John served in the Ulster County New York legislature and the Saugerties, New York Board of Education. In 2006 he ran for Congress against an entrenched incumbent in a historically Republican district. John’s musical colleagues performing at fundraisers made it possible to finance his winning campaign for the U.S. House of Representatives, for whom he served until early 2011.

In STILL THE ONE, John shares stories about moments that stand out from both his musical and political lives.

John shares childhood memories of being raised to be an optimist, and finding himself at age 18 in the miles of the ‘60s’ Music Explosion. In STILL THE ONE shows the cresting of his passion for environmental issues and rolling up his sleeves to help build several environmental groups.

From Janis Joplin's birthday party to conversations behind the closed-door caucus in the basement of the Capitol, from dialog with protesters to sharing elevator rides with fellow members of Congress, this captivating memoir offers viewpoints from an earnest and humorous voice.

John Hall’s life path is jam-packed with intriguing stories, fascinating people and optimism.

Titled after John’s best-known song, STILL THE ONE: A ROCK’N’ROLL JOURNEY TO CONGRESS AND BACK is ultimately an ode to engagement in creating a better world. –available now at amazon.com
