EWAN CURRIE LEAD SINGER & GUITARIST FOR THE SHEEPDOGS ON THE RAY SHASHO SHOW

THE RAY SHASHO SHOW WELCOMES EWAN CURRIE OF THE SHEEPDOGS
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CewUd1qHX0s
Our Very Special Guest Today is Ewan Currie the lead singer and guitarist for Canadian rock band sensations ‘The Sheepdogs.’

Trends come and go, styles fall in and out of fashion, but The Sheepdogs remain steadfast in their commitment to rock n’ roll excellence. Since their inception, the band has always sought to play the kind of music they themselves love: “Pure, simple, good-time music,” as singer/guitarist Ewan Currie puts it. It’s no surprise, then, that the band’s latest album, Future Nostalgia, is firmly rooted in the rock tradition that listeners have come to expect from the boys.

The idea was simple: find a nice, quiet, secluded place and make a record packed with all the hot guitar licks and sing-along choruses they could muster. So the band holed up in a rented house in the remote, idyllic setting of Stony Lake, Ontario, and set about creating a studio where they could work all hours of the day. “We wanted to cut out all the noise and get back to a place where we could just fully immerse ourselves in music,” says Currie, who took on production duties for the album. “We worked hard, but we also made sure to keep it loose and have ourselves a good time.”

Future Nostalgia is the middle ground between the JUNO-winning, platinum-certified Learn & Burn, which spawned the rock radio staple “I Don’t Know,” and its equally successful follow-up, 2012’s The Sheepdogs, featuring the instantly-recognizable, Gold-certified singles “Feeling Good” and “The Way It Is.”

The former was recorded by Currie and the band in their hometown of Saskatoon before they were propelled to fame as the first unsigned band to grace the cover of Rolling Stone, pressure free and at their own pace. Its follow-up, however, recorded in Nashville with producer and Black Keys drummer Patrick Carney, was a much more formal and rigid studio experience. This time, the band aimed to combine the successes and lessons learned from these opposite ends of the recording spectrum.

Future Nostalgia builds upon The Sheepdogs’ foundation of feel-good vocal harmonizing and nasty guitar jamming. Now, The Sheepdogs are eager to embark on the next leg of their journey, which will involve many miles logged and stages played. “I’m excited for people to hear the album, because it’s a labour of love,” Currie says proudly. “Now, it’s just about getting it out there and getting people into it.”
From their cramped Saskatchewan jam space to gold and platinum records and shows with rock icons, The Sheepdogs haven’t strayed from their goal of sharing pure, passionate rock n’ roll with anyone who’ll listen – and Future Nostalgia is packed with it.
Formed in Saskatoon in 2006, The Sheepdogs have received widespread acclaim for their bold and beautiful take on classic guitar rock, evinced on three self-funded, independently released albums.  The band’s hard work, determination and impressive chops have earned them a fervent fan following, leading to the accumulation of various achievements and awards including four JUNO awards, seven JUNO nominations, Gold certification for The Sheepdogs and Platinum certification for Learn and Burn. The band’s 2012 self-titled LP debuted at #1 on the Top 200 SoundScan Chart, and garnered three #1 singles at Rock Radio including Gold certified tracks “Feeling Good” and “The Way It Is”. As impassioned on stage as they are on record, The Sheepdogs have spent much of their musical lifetime on the road playing innumerable headline shows and festival appearances worldwide.

It’s my great pleasure to welcome to the show today lead singer, guitarist and songwriter for The Sheepdogs … EWAN CURRIE.

THE RAY SHASHO SHOW WELCOMES LEGENDARY BASSIST KENNY AARONSON

RAY SHASHO INTERVIEWS
KENNY AARONSON
STORIES-JOAN JETT-BOB DYLAN-RICK DERRINGER-NEW YORK DOLLS-YARDBIRDS-RADIO EXILE

Our Very Special Guest today is legendary bass player … Kenny Aaronson.

Kenny Aaronson was born, bread and buttered in Brooklyn, New York. He started playing drums at the age of eleven, following in his older brother's footsteps. Kenny switched to electric bass at the age 14 after becoming enamored by the low end of the bass on Motown records that he would hear on the jukeboxes in local pizza joints. To this day, he is still a huge James Jamerson fanatic. As a teenager, he played bass for Brooklyn based hard rock band Dust, which included Marc Bell (a.k.a. Marky Ramone), and released two albums in 1971 and '72 on the Kama Sutra label.  In 1973, Aaronson joined the New York band Stories, who's single,"Brother Louie", reached #1 on the Billboard, Cashbox and Record World charts.

Kenny Aaronson went on to become a recognized world-class rock and roll bassist with his extensive touring and recording with a variety of artists including Bob Dylan, Billy Idol, Joan Jett, Billy Squier, Foghat, Sammy Hagar, Neil Schon, Kenny Aaronson, Michael Shrieve, Brian Setzer, Mick Taylor, Dave Edmunds, Robert Gordon, Graham Parker, Hall and Oates, Edgar Winter, Leslie West Band, Rick Derringer and many more.

In 1988 Kenny was named Bassist of the year by Rolling Stone Magazine. Aaronson was also bassist in the house band for the MTV Guitar Greats Show where along with Dave Edmunds, Chuck Leavell and Michael Shrieve, he had the opportunity to back up artists as diverse as Steve Cropper, Brian Setzer, Lita Ford, Tony Iommi and Dave Gilmore. A few of Kenny's most memorable moments in his career were auditioning for the Rolling Stones, recording with George Harrison and opening for Led Zeppelin.

Kenny Aaronson supports singer song writer John Eddie.  In the summer of 2011 he toured with the New York Dolls supporting Motley Crue and Poison in the US along with solo Dolls dates in Australia.  In the fall, they toured the U.K. supporting Alice Cooper.  Kenny has recently supported Corky Laing, Robert Gordon and Philadelphia's "In The Pocket".

Most recently Kenny is a member of the legendary Yardbirds and Radio Exile who recently released their debut CD and official video entitled “Soulfire.”

It’s my great pleasure to welcome prodigious bassist Kenny Aaronson to The Ray Shasho Show …

Our Very Special Guest Today is Marky Ramone the drummer for the legendary punk rock band the Ramones.
Marky Ramone is best known for the 15 years he spent drumming for the Ramones. Prior to joining the Ramones, Marky played with an array of influential musicians dating back to his high school years when he was a member of the Brooklyn based hard rock band, Dust. In 1976, Marky was introduced to Richard Hell. Along with Bob Quine and Ivan Julian, they formed Richard Hell & the Voidoids. The Voidoids released their groundbreaking debut album in 1977 on Sire Records, entitled “Blank Generation”. Shortly after the Voidoids historic U.K. tour with The Clash, Marky found himself at the bar at CBGB with Dee Dee Ramone. Dee Dee asked him if he would be interested in joining The Ramones. The spring of 1978, Marky joined the Ramones. In a matter of weeks he was in the studio recording his first album with The Ramones entitled, “Road to Ruin”, which features one of the biggest Ramones songs “I Wanna Be Sedated”. The following year the Ramones filmed the cult classic “Rock 'n' Roll High School”. Later that year, they joined forces with producer legend, Phil Spector to record “End Of The Century”.

After several tours and two more studio albums, Marky was asked to leave the band in 1983, only to rejoin his band mates in 1987 until they decided to call it quits in 1996. In 2001, Marky along with his former band mates (Johnny, Dee Dee and Tommy), were inducted into the Rock 'N' Roll Hall of Fame. That same year, U2’s Bono presented the Ramones with the MTV’s Lifetime Achievement Award. In the spring of 2009, Marky launched a capsule collection clothing line with Hilfiger Denim. In 2010, Marky shared his recipe for pasta sauce by introducing Marky Ramone’s Brooklyn’s Own Pasta Sauce.
In February 2010 The Ramones received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. It was the first Grammy for the punk rock pioneers. In early 2010 Marky Ramones Blitzkrieg with Michale Graves released their first single “When We Were Angels” with former member of Sheer Terror, Mark Neuman, playing bass and guitar. THE RAY SHASHO SHOW WELCOMES WORLD-RENOWNED SINGER AND SONGWRITER BETH HART

RAY SHASHO INTERVIEWS
THE INCREDIBLE BETH HART

THE RAY SHASHO SHOW WELCOMES
PRODIGIOUS SINGER AND SONGWRITER
 BETH HART

Our Very Special Guest Today is Grammy Award-nominated singer/songwriter Beth Hart who has been recognized across the world as one of the great live vocalists of our time. For 20 years, she has been leveling audiences with her incredible power, range and soul. Four of the greatest lead guitar legends in the business knew this, which is why they asked her to perform with them: in concert with Jeff Beck, in concert and on two spellbinding albums (Don’t Explain and Seesaw) with Joe Bonamassa, on two powerhouse records with Slash (on Beth’s own track, Sister Heroine, and on Slash’s Mother Maria) and on a very special blues album (Rhythm and Blues) with Buddy Guy.

It’s no wonder she’s been nominated for two Blues Music Awards. Time and time again Beth has sold out venues around the world. But maybe her greatest live performance to date was seen by millions of television viewers, when her tribute to Buddy Guy on the Kennedy Center Honors Special received one of the only 2 standing ovations of the evening, led by President Barack Obama and his wife, Michelle. Every live performance gets a standing ovation, because no one knows how to rock the house better than Beth Hart.
Beth Hart’s latest release is entitled Better Than Home.
This album isn’t about the problems Beth faced in her life. Instead, she’s choosing to find the good things that have been there all along: accepting and loving her parents for who they really are, appreciating a good husband, facing her fears head on and ultimately finding ways to heal and convert that positive energy into music that moves people. This is an incredibly moving, self written and composed, album that’s going to reach people on a very personal level, because a one-of-a-kind artist found the perfect formula for exposing her very private inner voice and empowering it with her legendary outer voice. Because of that, it simply doesn’t get better than Beth Hart’s, self written and composed, ‘Better Than Home.’

"The first time I heard or watched Beth Hart was on a You Tube video several years back. Beth and her band sang the Humble Pie classic “I Don’t Need No Doctor” (In a stunning live performance in Amsterdam) and I immediately thought to myself …This chick can save rock and roll! Then I watched “Am I the One” again (Another live thriller from Amsterdam) I became completely mesmerized and I just knew I was watching a legend in the making.

Nobody can naturally interpret the heart, soul, and talent reminiscent to the glory days of Rock, Blues and R&B like Beth Hart. I truly believe that Beth alone can revive the genre of rock and the blues. She is the rock and roll savior and should be a household name very soon here in the USA, because she is in just about every other place around the world." ...Ray Shasho Music Journalist

Please welcome to the Ray Shasho Show … Dynamic singer and songwriter … … savior of rock and the blues …Beth Hart.

KEVIN GODLEY GUEST ON THE RAY SHASHO SHOW

KEVIN GODLEY ON THE RAY SHASHO SHOW

10cc/Godley and Creme Legend Kevin Godley Releases New Book SPACECAKE on iBooks

Ireland – SPACECAKE chronicles the misadventures of a debauched and dangerous masochist as he tantrums his way through the sleazy worlds of Rock & Roll, music video and technology, each squalid escapade dragging him ever deeper into a repugnant maelstrom of sordid excess…well sort of. A wee bit, actually…not remotely.
It’s all about the work really.

If you don’t recognize the name, Kevin Godley was a founder member of ground breaking UK band 10cc. (Their single, “I’m Not In Love” continues to be one of the best selling records of all time). As one half of Godley & Creme he went on to pioneer the notion of music video as an art form and was responsible for iconic clips by artists such as Herbie Hancock, The Police, Duran Duran, Lou Reed & Frankie Goes to Hollywood etc, continuing to up his game in solo mode with U2, Frank Sinatra, Paul McCartney, The Beatles & Blur amongst others. KG thrives on re-inventing himself and SPACECAKE, his first book, takes you on an interactive tour of his life via pictures, music, film clips and 27 chapters of abstract insight into how everything from the first hits to WholeWorldBand, his music/video collaboration app, got made. It’s dark in some of the corners though…so make sure you bring a torch.

Kevin Michael Godley (born 7 October 1945, Prestwich, Lancashire, England) is a British musician, writer and music video director.
He was born in a family with Jewish ancestry, and went to North Cestrian Grammar School in Altrincham. His first band was Group 17 which had its origins in the Jewish Lads Brigade (The JLB). The members were Henri Shalam, Bernard Suffrin, Sydney Kaye and Jeffrey Baker, whose father may have inspired the “Sergeant Baker” character in the 10cc song, “Rubber Bullets”.

While attending art college in Manchester, Godley met Lol Creme and formed several bands, most notably Hotlegs and 10cc. After leaving 10cc, the two became known as Godley & Creme, both as musicians and music video / TV commercials directors. They won many MTV awards for their unique films and were jointly nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Music Video, Long Form for: The Police: Synchronicity Concert in 1986.

Godley writes, sings, and plays drums and percussion and in 1990 conceived and directed the TV music special “One World One Voice” that featured a global piece of music focussing on environmental and ecological issues. Godley also became a vegetarian during this period.

Both Godley and Lol Creme briefly “reunited” with their former 10cc bandmates Eric Stewart and Graham Gouldman on the 1992 album, “Meanwhile”. However, Godley claims that their involvement with the project was very limited, as the album was dominated by studio musicians. He performed the lead vocal on “The Stars Didn’t Show”, the band’s tribute to the late Roy Orbison. It was the only song on the album not sung by Stewart. Following “Meanwhile”, Godley and Creme went their separate ways.
He reunited with another former 10cc member, Graham Gouldman, to record new music in 2006 as GG/06, and together they have recorded six new songs which are available via their website www.gg06.co.uk

Recently, Godley has moved into developing a music platform that combines audio and video to create a global recording studio in the cloud called “WholeWorldBand” (www.wholeworldband.com). The company was nominated for the “SXSW Music Accelerator Award” in 2013 and was one of eight finalists selected from a pool of over 500.
SPACECAKE, the book, is available for download from iBooks and can be read on any Mac iOS device.
